Poached pear with Saint Agur blue cheese

Contrast sweet and juicy pears with creamy and robust Saint Agur blue cheese to create a match made in heaven. Create these elegant party appetizers in just 15 minutes.

  • 4 pears

  • 125 g Saint Agur

  • 200 ml grape juice (light)

  • 200 ml white wine

  • 1 tsp turmeric (ground)

  • 1 star anise

  • 1 stick of cinnamon

  • 1 clove

  • 20 g hazelnuts (chopped)

  • some redcurrants for garnish


  1. For the poached spiced pear with blue cheese, peel the fruits with a peeler, cut in half and remove the core. Add the grape juice, white wine and spices to a saucepan and stir well. Bring the sauce to a boil and add the pear halves. Put the lid on, remove the pan from the heat and let it cool for about 20 minutes.

  2. Place the poached pear halves on a plate. Dice the Saint Agur and place in the middle of the halves.

  3. Toast chopped hazelnuts in a frying pan until golden brown and sprinkle them on top of the stuffed pear with blue cheese. Garnish with a few redcurrants.
